President's Day Weekend

Jonathan's parents were scheduled to come visit over the long President's Day weekend, and despite the LOADS of snow we got for 2 days straight on Tuesday and Wednesday, Philly magically managed to clear the runways in time for their flight Thursday evening. This is some of the "debris" left by the blizzard-- two big pine trees were knocked down in front of our apartment building because of the heavy snow!

To celebrate their arrival, we headed to the Please Touch Museum Friday afternoon. It was so fun for Lucy to get to show her grandparents such a cool place with tons of fun things to do. We had a blast playing and "touching" everything, and Lucy and Zach even got to ride the carousel!

That evening mom and dad got to go on a special date downtown, since parking was free due to all the snow. We stopped first at "Silk City Diner" which was featured by Guy Fieri on the Food Network show Diner's, Drive-In's, and Dives. It was pretty good-- we both got sandwiches (the French Dip and Meatloaf Sub) and were pretty pleased with them and the price wasn't too bad either.

After dinner we drove around downtown searching for the "Naked Chocolate Cafe" which we'd gone to once the first year we moved here. We finally found it and it was TOTALLY amazing!! It was a perfect pre-Valentine's place to be, so we indulged in their sipping chocolates (liquid chocolate you can drink!!) and a Sachertorte. YUM!!

Saturday morning dawned bright and clear (and COLD!), but since their was no more snow on the horizon (just yet), we headed out to our Amish Paradise. We bundled Zachy up in the stroller and pushed our way through cow fields, Farmer's Markets, Amish pretzels, and the outlet malls. What could be better?

Monday morning I got to go "to work" with Jonathan and be screened as a patient for his Boards. Unfortunately after 6 years since I'd last seen the dentist and 2 children later, I have 0 cavities. What are the odds?!? I remember as a kid I had like 5 cavities every visit. I guess my oral hygiene has improved considerably due to the fact that my husband is an almost-dentist, but I could have really used a "Class 2" cavity or two to help my husband out.

As with everything in life, all good things must come to an end. And it seems like anytime grandparents leave it's always a very bitter end! This was Lucy's room 1 day after Grandma and Grandpa Cardon left. Obviously, Lucy was remorsing the loss of her best playmates and companions of the week before. She was in T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!:)
