Pumpkin Patchin' It

Well, when in the country, do as the country bumpkins do. Go to the pumpkin patch! Saturday afternoon we checked out Gross Farms (don't you think that's an unfortunate name for a farm??) out in Sanford-- a little ol' hamlet about 30 miles away. Along with the pumpkin patch, they had a corn maze, hay ride, an enormous trampoline, and some fun play stuff for kids.
Ever since last week when we re-introduced this little rascal to pants after a year without them, he has been obsessed with them!! Now that it's gotten hot again, he refuses to wear shorts so he was pretty rosy cheeked on this 85 degree HUMID outing. But still cute and loving the farm equipment (and abundant "bunkins")!
Lucy bouncing on this HUGE homemade trampoline. This thing was CRAZY!! I wish I'd gotten a better picture of it, because it was probably 10 times the size of a normal trampoline and a LOT bouncier, with sheer sides. TOTAL death trap! But like you can keep the kids off it...
Zachary playing with the John Deer tricycles; a safer pastime.
Playing on the rope swing!!
Choo-choo!! Zachary thoroughly enjoyed driving everyone around on his pretend train. The only way we could talk him off of it was to tell him about the hay ride with the tractor!
Hanging out on the sweltering, er, super warm but fun hayride through some beautiful Carolina farm country. And although we were melting, I gotta tell you it was still better than the constant rain we've been experiencing for the last week and a half!! After living in a dry desert, I feel like we are NEVER going to dry out. This particular farm mainly produces tobacco and asparagus, and we got to see them processing their tobacco plants which was pretty interesting.
Have you ever experienced a corn maze in the heat of the day with 2 grumpy kids?? Well, I have. Let's forget about it and sign off with this happy picture. Happy pumpkin picking!!
