Countdown to Cruise...

We're looking at a jam-packed couple of weeks of fun this April-- including visits from Grandma and Grandpa Cardon, mom and dad leaving for a Caribbean cruise, a Spring Break trip to Atlanta, and tickets for Jon to see the Masters Golf Tournament. In order to brog about all of these fun things, we've got to finish up March and get caught up!
Spring officially arrived March 20th, or so the calendar declared, and we celebrated by taking advantage of Rita's free water ice!
I picked the kids up from school and we headed straight for Rita's where there was no line and hardly anybody there (which always surprises me because in Philly it was a guaranteed 20 minute wait), and Zach was more than happy to do his part by eating one.
Wee-Wee's didn't particularly care what kind she got, as long as it was red!
Lucy was practically raised on this stuff-- from the time she was just a wee little babe in Philadelphia until now (minus our year in Las Vegas), this has been a 7-year long tradition for her!
Right after Rita's I fed the kids dinner and Jon hurried home from work in order to take the older two camping. They went up to Badin Lake, near Troy, NC, which is about 1 1/2 hours away and got there just after dark. Jon put up the tent, got a fire going for s'mores, and the kids were thrilled with their little last-minute camping trip.
Playing Pokemons in bed (their latest obsession)! Leah and I stayed home and held down the fort. I've sworn off camping while I still have a "baby" because I think that's why I don't like it. I'm always on edge waiting for a baby to tumble into the fire, or fall into the river, or dreading being kept up all night by a screaming confused child. I figure when they're all old enough I'll give it another go!
Jon said it got really COLD that night and they woke up pretty chilly, so as soon as everyone was up and dressed they packed up camp and headed to Waffle House for breakfast!
That afternoon our chore was to work on the yard-- which mostly just consisted of cleaning out our garage and going through all the junk in there before the movers get here. I guess that doesn't really count as "yard work," but it took up most of our time and we only managed to rake up a few bags of leaves. Our reward for all that hard work however, was to take the family to see the new Cinderella movie. Leah (being nap-deprived and totally unpredictable) LOVED every single second of it! She was mesmerized from the first little Frozen 2 cartoon at the beginning, through all of the storytelling and dancing and beautiful costumes, to the very end when they get their Happily Ever After. It was a hit!
The following weekend found us at our ward's annual Easter activity. They had a potluck breakfast with muffins and fruit salad, and then the kids got to participate in an Easter egg hunt right after.
Naturally even though the weather had been pretty good leading up to the activity it was FREEZING cold that morning (like 40 degrees and windy). Brrrr! I came in my sweaty workout clothes and I about froze to death just in the 10 minutes we were outside!
Each child got to find 10 eggs, which was pretty easy for this kid-- who found like 20, but was able to divvy them up and help Leah find all of her 10, too. Grandma and Grandpa Cardon took a red-eye from Seattle the night before, so as soon as I was showered and ready, we headed up to Raleigh to meet them and spend the day before mom and dad left on their Bahama cruise!
