It's a Cupcake World...

A few weeks ago I finally was making cupcakes with my little sous chef Zach (he begs at least once a day to be able to do this), and he got so excited he started singing, "It's a cupcake world!" which definitely got a laugh out of me. Cupcakes are by far his ultimate idea of the perfect treat. In a new effort to embrace all things Pinehurst--it's a diamond in the rough, right?--imagine my elation at discovering a fairly new cupcakery in downtown Southern Pines, just a few miles from our house, called Cups Cupcakery. I took the kids for a special treat Friday afternoon to try these little delights out, and they were actually really delish. So good in fact, we went back the next day with Jonathan and bought a half dozen. There was a such a plethora of flavors we had to try as many as we could! Red Velvet of course, The Blondie (all vanilla), The Best Friend (double chocolate with chocolate truffle frosting), Miami Key Lime, Cookies 'n' Cream, and Salted Caramel, to name a few. Zach interestingly enough opted for a cake pop instead of a cupcake (the traitor!), but it was also super yummy. Lucy enjoying her Red Velvet. It's definitely becoming more of a cupcake world now that we've found this place!

Yummy. How do you always find all these great spots? I'm sure there's good stuff around here...I just can't find it!

Is that a real song? Or did he make it up? Why do I suddenly have the urge to go and make cupcakes?

Not sure I get this whole cupcake revolution thing. I'm pretty sure I was eating them when I was in kindergarden and that was like a half a century ago. So what's the big deal? Is it just because they cost an arm and a leg for 3 bites? This just all escapes me.
