This weekend we celebrated discovering a forgotten fire pit (left in the backyard shed by the previous owners) by having a bonfire, or "foi-ah" (fire) as Zachary would say.
As close to nature as Jon gets these days...
These kids LOVE anything resembling a campfire, especially so they have an excuse to roast some marshmallows for s'mores! Zachary could have eaten the whole bag himself.
It was actually a lot of fun having a little bonfire in the backyard, and then being able to simply walk back inside and put the kids to bed in their own beds, after all was said and done. In fact, this could quickly become MY new form of camping-out. Just send Jon and the kids out in the wild wilderness of the backyard and pitch a tent 20 feet from the house!

Looks like a fun backyard "foi-ah". I'm sure Grandpa Tom-Tom wishes he was there, and so do I ;)
Agreed. That is definitely my type of camping too. They can have the tent and the stars...I want my temperpedic and pillow. :)
so fun, and definitely my kind of camping!
How fun! Looks like you are doing some fun things that you would have not been able to do in Vegas :)
You just had to go and show that, didn't you! It's bad enough that you are half way around the world, but you are always having fun and we are not there and it is really starting to bug me. What can I do? I'm camping out in our yard tonight, with a fire, and with or without Ms. Joan and the rest of y'all.
Looks like a wonderful family evening! I like your plan for "camping' - sounds perfect to me!
Totally my kind of camping! Love the halloween costumes and seeing how big your darling kiddos are getting. Glad you are doing well.
